SUMMARY:CARF Webinar: An Introduction to CARF International's Disorders of Consciousness Specialty Program Standards and Accreditation
DESCRIPTION:Live online training – attendance is limited\, register now \n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a complimentary webinar to learn more about CARF’s new Disorders of Consciousness Specialty Program standards from Terry Carolan\, MSPT\, CARF’s Managing Director for Medical Rehabilitation and Aging Services. A Disorders of Consciousness (DoC) Specialty Program delivers services that focus on the assessment\, treatment\, and care of individuals with Disorders of Consciousness\, which includes persons entering the program in a coma state\, vegetative or unresponsive wakefulness state\, or minimally conscious state\, and potentially progressing to a post-traumatic or acute confusional state. \n\n\n\n\n\nFamilies/support systems are partners in shared decision-making and receive education and support that allow them to effectively care and advocate for their loved ones\, navigate fluctuations in the clinical status of the persons served\, and balance prognostic uncertainty and hope. Key areas of the standards include evidence-based assessment and treatment using standardized\, validated tools\, providing support and education to families/support systems before\, during and after a length of stay\, advocating with payers\, supporting the well-being of personnel\, acting as a resource to acute care providers\, competency-based training for personnel and navigating ethical concerns and de-escalation of care. \n\n\n\n\n\nTraining materials will be emailed to registrants one week prior to the training date. For more information\, click Register and review the Online Training Information tab. \n\n\n\n\n\nAll presentations and materials are provided in English. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration is complimentary.
