December 18, 2014, Tucson, Arizona— The CARF Board of Directors elected Herb Zaretsky, Ph.D., as Chair of the Board during its December 2014 meeting beginning January 1, 2015. He was also voted to a new three-year term as Board member. Dr. Zaretsky is currently a Clinical Professor at The Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, New York University Langone Medical Center, and a longtime participant in CARF governance.

The National Organization of State Associations for Children (NOSAC), a national collaboration of state-level associations serving children and families, has accepted a seat on CARF’s International Advisory Council (IAC). CARF International provides accreditation services, including the development of quality standards, for health and human services.

CARF International has announced new standards for accreditation of rapid rehousing and homelessness prevention (RRHP) programs to support grantees of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ SSVF program. The SSVF program promotes supportive services and housing stability for low-income or homeless veteran families, and is part of a larger initiative outlined by the federal government in 2010 to end veteran homelessness by 2015
