Supporting people living with dementia requires an approach that recognizes each person’s individuality, preferences, strengths, abilities, and changing needs. Quality dementia care extends beyond responding to cognitive or physical changes to preserving dignity and personhood, supporting meaningful relationships and engagement, and promoting well-being and quality of life.

This one-hour webinar will introduce CARF’s Dementia Care Specialty Designation and explore how the standards support person- and relationship-centred dementia care across Aging Services settings. Participants will learn about key areas of the designation, including individualized services and supports, meaningful activity and participation, family/support-system partnerships, workforce knowledge and competency, supportive environments, and practices that promote health, well-being, and safety.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the Dementia Care Specialty Designation, how it enhances CARF accreditation in Aging Services, and considerations for organizations interested in pursuing the designation.

All presentations and materials are provided in English.

Registration is complimentary.
