CARF New Jersey Deemed Status

The Path to Quality Distinction and Regulatory Compliance for Assisted Living Communities

A New Accreditation Alternative to Advanced Standing

Meet licensure renewal requirements in New Jersey with CARF accreditation through the New Jersey Department of Health’s Deemed Status Program. CARF International is a recognized accrediting body for this program.

The New Jersey’s Deemed Status Program is available to licensed Assisted Living Residences (ALRs) in lieu of periodic inspections when, at the time of the biennial inspection, the ALR has been accredited within the past two years by a recognized accrediting body.

Previously, licensed ALRs were able to obtain Advanced Standing through periodic inspections conducted by the Health Care Association of New Jersey (HCANJ). The Advanced Standing program concluded on October 31, 2023. Read the guidance memo.
